Does my vehicle need an MOT test?

If your car has been on the road for more than three years since it was brand-new, you are obligated by UK law to have a current MOT certificate for the car.

An MOT test, which stands for Ministry of Transport test, is needed to be performed on your vehicle once annually by a certified MOT tester to make sure your vehicle meets the required safety standards enforced by the DVSA.

If you do not own an up-to-date MOT document for your car then you can not lawfully drive it on the road, you also won’t be able to renew your road tax.

You don’t need to leave your MOT test to the expiration date shown on your present MOT document, you can have your vehicle tested any time within twenty eight days before that date.

What is required in an MOT test?

An MOT test consists of a DVSA accredited tester inspecting and performing an extensive series of tests on your vehicle. The inspections are carried out on the interior and external, including in the engine bay as well as the underside of the car to guarantee that it’s in a safe and roadworthy condition. Please bear in mind that a MOT is not the same as getting your vehicle serviced – an MOT is simply to make sure the car is in roadworthy condition while servicing maintains the general mechanical condition.

If all the checks performed on the vehicle during the MOT test are successfully passed then you will be issued with a pass certificate (VT20). If your vehicle has passed the MOT, the tester is completely satisfied your car is safe to drive on the road.

Please note that the expiration date on your new MOT certificate is 12 months from the expiry date on your old certificate, not twelve months from the day of your vehicle successfully passing the test.

You may discover a list of components or areas on car that are mentioned on the “Advisory Information” section of your new MOT certificate, these parts may need attention in the near future. These advisory items ought to be checked out by your mechanic and ideally replaced if needed before your next MOT test is due.

If your MOT specialist carries out the tests and determines that your vehicle is not safe in its existing condition then your vehicle will not pass the MOT test. You’ll be given a VT30 failure document and provided with a checklist of the items that caused the vehicle to fail the MOT test. We’ll then go over with you the required repairs needed to make your vehicle safe and also can book the vehicle in for the repairs to be carried out and re-tested.

The most successful businesses share the view that customers are the lifeblood of any business. Your comfort level ought to be a key consideration in picking an MOT testing station. That said, you want to choose between too many good companies rather than too few. There’s no reason to put companies with poor reputations on your shortlist; only write down companies that you would consider hiring.

An outstanding reputation for reliability is a vital qualification for any event planning firm. Request a list of references to contact, and afterwards ask these former clients for their opinions on the work done. To provide high levels of customer service, businesses that have hundreds or thousands of customers need to treat each individual client like he or she is really the only one that matters. The most successful businesses are completely customer-centered. Failing to put customers’ interests above all else is a sure-fire recipe for corporate mediocrity.

Having trusting customers is a blessing that cannot be overlooked. Every customer relationship ought to be considered a work in progress that’s never finished, but rather continues to evolve in response to changing customer requirements and expectations. No MOT tester has the luxury of quitting providing excellent customer service without having significant problems.

If you leave a lasting good impression with your customers, you’ll have an excellent reputation in your area. I chose Meadowfield due to the offer of bonus Tesco points, however now that I have had experience of service from this family run business, I would most certainly not hesitate to use them in the future. I was attended to by a polite, courteous mechanic and was offered either to wait for the tyres to be replaced or to come back within a short time. I chose the first and sat in their bright, little cabin while the job was carried out. Every now and again someone popped in, always with a friendly smile. After about 40 mins, another friendly face came in to tell me the job was finished and I was ready to go – not only new tyres fitted but also ‘perfectly balanced! Excellent customer service. Thank you Meadowfield, one very satisfied customer here.
